NEW CABLE SPLITTER FROM SOUTHCO PROVIDES FLEXIBILITY OF ACTUATION POINTS IN ROTARY SYSTEMS CONCORDVILLE, Pa., May 09, 2017 — Southco, Inc., a global leader in engineered access solutions, has recently added a cable splitter accessory to its successful line of Rotary Latch solutions, which allows multiple connected rotary latches to be triggered from a single actuation point. The AC Cable Splitter features built in adjustability and timed release, allowing greater flexibility in the design and integration of rotary latch systems into applications where remote latching is required. Southco’s AC Cable Splitter provides flexibility of the actuation point, allowing two connected rotary latches to be activated by one actuator, or one rotary latch to be activated by two actuators. Additionally, the Cable Splitter provides timed release, allowing one connected rotary latch to be triggered before another, or both rotary latches to be released at the same time. This is useful in entry door applications, for example, where the end user would need to open both doors on opposite sides of the vehicle at the same time, in addition to accessing either door from one side.
With its compact design, Southco’s AC Cable Splitter occupies minimal space within the enclosure. Constructed of corrosion-resistant plastic, with a protective cover, the AC Cable Splitter is well suited for a broad range of challenging application environments. The AC Cable Splitter can be combined with Southco’s line of mechanical and electronic actuators, rotary latches and jacketed cables for a complete rotary latching system. Global Product Manager Cindy Bart adds, “Southco’s AC Cable Splitter provides greater flexibility when designing and integrating rotary latch systems where remote latching is required. Timed release and built in adjustability make the AC Cable Splitter an ideal solution for challenging actuation points.” For more information about Southco’s complete line of R4 Rotary Latching solutions, please visit www.southco.com, e-mail the 24/7 customer service department at southco.com/contact/en, call 610-459- 4000 or fax your inquiry to 610-459-4012. Fast, light and ergonomic, ProSert® XTN20 tool increases manufacturing productivity
For manufacturers looking to improve productivity and increase their return on investment, POP® Avdel® the industry’s largest blind rivet provider has applied years of fastening and tooling experience to develop a World-class Blind Rivet Nut Installation tool.
Its lightweight and best-in-class ergonomic design includes “pull-to-force/pull-to-stroke” dual operating technology. These features provide added flexibility that allow operators to install a broad range of thread sizes and grip combinations, thus reducing the need for multiple tools at any given work station. As a result, productivity is increased and lower total installed costs are realized.
The ProSert® XTN20 provides high speed installations, improved assembly productivity, clear and fast access to the work piece, and setting adjustments easily made in a production environment. With the patent pending, quick-installation mandrel exchange system and the tool-free stroke and force setting features, changeovers are easy and installations are consistent and reliable.
Longer tool life and reduced maintenance costs are also achieved by using high-strength installation mandrels and high performance hydraulic seals. Mandrel replacement costs are significantly reduced when compared to tools requiring special, high cost installation mandrels, and the enhanced hydraulic seal design also maximizes re-priming intervals, further reducing maintenance costs.
Weighing just 1.59 kg including the (M6) nosepiece assembly, the ProSert® XTN20 is much lighter than most comparable tools and offers the highest pull force-to-weight ratio in its class, enabling assembly operators to be more productive with less effort and fatigue.
The ProSert® XTN20 is designed with a low-force, single-action trigger and comfortable weight balanced ergonomic handle. Additionally, a powered spin-out override button is positioned in an easily accessible location ensuring operator safety.
The ProSert® XTN20 hydraulic-pneumatic blind rivet nut installation tool has an M3 to M10 thread size capacity; Pull Force is approximately 17 kN at 5 bar; and provides up to 7 mm stroke adjustment.
Blind rivet nuts can be installed into sheet metal, tubing, extrusions, plastics, and other materials to provide strong, reliable internal threads in applications requiring assembly and disassembly. One-sided installations can be achieved in a range of thin panels of varying materials and hardness, and are ideal for close-to-edge applications.

The NeoBolt lockbolt fastener system delivers vibration resistance and structural strength with no pin break
POP Avdel, the largest blind rivet supplier in the industry, is introducing NeoBolt, a non-breakstem lockbolt fastening system for heavy-duty structural applications. The two piece NeoBolt fastener features a collar and a pin with fine pitch locking grooves that, when installed, provides unmatched vibration resistance and fatigue performance.
Unlike traditional lockbolt fasteners, there is no pin break so there is no metal waste, reduced noise, no installation shock, no risk of pintails being dropped into the application or work area, and no corrosion at a pin break surface. With no shock loads, tool life is extended and operator fatigue reduced.
Apart from the elimination of metal waste, the reduced pin weight and size versus normal lockbolts offers environmental benefits of using fewer raw materials and less energy throughout manufacturing, shipping and storage.
Designed for industries ranging from rail, truck and trailer to mining, construction, commercial vehicles, and alternative energy applications, NeoBolt fasteners can withstand the stresses of the toughest applications and environments.
NeoBolt fasteners are quickly and easily installed in seconds to provide a secure, maintenance-free, long lasting joint compared to traditional nut and bolt assemblies. NeoBolt offers a permanent joint with far greater vibration resistance that avoids loosening by unscrewing.
To install the NeoBolt fastener, the pin is placed through the materials to be joined and the collar screwed onto the pin thread with just a single turn. This collar “fit-up” feature enables easy pre-assembly in joints and avoids the need to support the pin during the subsequent swaging operation. A tool with an open collet is placed over the pin tail end and when actuated, the collet closes and pulls the pin. The anvil moves onto the collar, closes any joint gaps, and swages the collar wall down into the pin locking grooves. Once full swaging load is reached, the tool travel stops and returns to release the pin.
Radial bars on the collar flange, standard on all sizes, further enable quick visual verification of full swage during installation or inspection.
NeoBolt lockbolts are available in a variety of sizes ranging from 3/16” to 1” (4.8mm to 25.4mm) diameter, with a grip range from 0.520” to 6.23” (1.3 to 158mm).
The NeoBolt lockbolt is the newest product in the POP Avdel family of structural “Lockbolt Systems” which includes Avdelok®, Avdelok® XT, Maxlok®, Avtainer®, and Avbolt®. Lockbolts provide consistent high clamp, shear, and tensile strength as well as excellent vibration resistance, multi-grip capability, and high-speed assembly.
